Dialogue Meeting 2017

The eighth J. S. Bach Dialogue Meeting will be held at the historic house of Madingley Hall, Cambridge from Monday 10 to Saturday morning 15  July 2017, with the formal programme running from the afternoon of Tuesday 11 to Thursday evening 13 July. By popular request we have this time included a day before and after the formal programme, to facilitate networking, discussions, and the practicalities of travel. The full programme can be read here.

Registration for the meeting is still open. If you have any queries, please write to our administrator Charlotte Bentley on bentley.bnuk@gmail.com

The programme will include detailed discussions on Bach and God, the performance-academic divide, the Fleckeisen document, new images of Bach, digital publishing, little known Mizler sources, the launch of the Calov Bible facsimile, and our ever-popular Young Scholars’ Forum. Presenters and panellists will include (in alphabetical order) Jeremy Begbie, Chiara Bertoglio, Albert Clement, Victoria Cooper, Stephen Crist, Robin A. Leaver, Michael Marissen, Michael Maul, Daniel R. Melamed, Szymon Paczkowski, Andrew Parrott, Barbara M. Reul, Stephen Roe, and David Schulenberg. Research sessions held on Friday 14 will be led by Yo Tomita, Ruth Tatlow and others. There will also be a flash announcement session at which twelve delegates will be given five minutes in which to share their latest research questions and discoveries.

The schedule is designed with generous open discussion time, to give every delegate an opportunity to engage with the subjects. There will also be time over meals and in the wonderful gardens to continue discussions informally.
