16 November 2011: It is with sadness that we note the passing of BNUK member Andrew Hill on Monday after a short and intensive illness.

 

13 September 2011: BNUK member Philip Scriven will be performing the complete Bach organ works on the new Mander organ at Cranleigh School this year between October 2011 and June 2012. Full details can be found here

 

18 March 2011: BNUK member Aizhana Nurkenova will be performing the complete English Suites in two performances: Part 1 with the first three Suites on Friday 6 May and Part 2 with Suites four to six on Tuesday 10 May. 13 February 2011: An announcement of an unusual performance of the St John Passion, in which Jewish and Islamic medieval texts as well as modern poems (Nietzsche, Lasker-Schueler, Celan), will be juxtaposed with Bach's music. The idea and the selection of such poems was first designed by Ruth HaCohen (Jerusalem) and Almuth Bruckstein (Berlin); the original performance (omitting the arias) took place in Stuttgart in 2005, and was reported in UB1 in an article by Ruth HaCohen. The Minden premiere of the new form - with all the Bach arias sung in the original - will take place on 1 April 2011 at 8pm in the Church of St Mary's, Minden (Westphalia), D-32423. 30 January 2009: An alert from BNUK member Jonathan Higgs. A series of nine concerts of Bach's solo instrumental works will be performed in Manchester this July in a unique setting: an installation designed for the occasion by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid.
